DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGNERS, BORDERS AND ASYLUM

The Duties:

• 'The Division of Strategy Development and Support' is responsible for providing coordination in the areas of international relations, security and cooperation agreements within the province of our department between the Division of Headship and the other divisions of the department within the scope of European Union harmonization process. It is also responsible for identification of training needs of the staff working in our department and provincial organizations and rewarding of these staff. The other responsibility of this division is to follow the amendments of the legislations being in force and transmit these amendments to the other relevant departments of The General Directorate of Turkish National Police.
• 'The Division of Boundary Conflicts' is responsible for the application of the agreements, the pursuance of border negotiations, the resolution of the events and conflicts occurring in the frontiers of our country within the framework of the provisions set forth in bilateral agreements and the determination of the procedures and principles regarding the issuance of the documents such as official letter, laissez-passer, vs...
• 'The Division of Border Gates' is responsible for carrying out the opening and closing proceedings of the international border gates, providing coordination with regard to the functioning of border gates, fulfilling the entrance-exit demands of the travelers and evaluating the suggestions and complaints of the travelers.
• 'The Division of Asylum, Immigration and Nationality' is responsible for the status determination of the foreigners asking for asylum in our country by examining their applications for asylum within the framework of international and national legislation and enabling them to go to the third countries. It is also responsible for the investigation of the foreigners applying for citizenship, doing archival research and assessment of these foreigners in terms of security. The other responsibilities of this Division are to investigate the foreigners who wish coming to our country as free migrant on the basis of 5543 numbered Settlement Law and provide coordination among the Ministries.
• 'The Division of Foreigners' is responsible for the residence permit proceedings, the proceedings of the foreigners who will receive course and education, the proceedings of foreign mission officials, the consular agency proceedings, the proceedings of family members, the proceedings related to the acquisition of real estate property, the proceedings concerning the members of the Meskhetian Turks Community and other Turkish Communities, and the proceedings related to the foreigners who are have "unknown nationality, stateless and blue (pink)" cards. It is also responsible for making preparation on consular negotiations and carrying out the proceedings with regard to allocation of personal identification number.
• 'The Division of Illegal Immigration and Human Trafficking' is responsible for pursuance of international agreements, reports and documents in the fields of the fight against illegal migration and human trafficking, making preparation regarding international studies and doing studies in order to practice advisory and binding decisions taken in these international studies.
• 'The Division of Deportation Proceeding" is responsible for fulfilling the deportation proceedings of the foreigners who come to our country and act against laws and administrative requirements and taking precautions in order to prevent these foreigners entering Turkey again and taking measures related to the foreigners who are abroad and may be risky if they enter Turkey.
• 'The Division of Working Proceedings of Foreigners' is responsible for carrying out the policies relating to the foreigners who will work in Turkey, making appropriate studies in order to prevent the undeclared works of foreigners, fulfilling the proceedings of the foreigners who will work in the relevant state institutions and organizations, carrying out the proceedings of the foreigners for whom private policy has been implemented and fulfilling the proceedings of the foreigners within the scope of working permit exemption.
• 'The Division of Visa' is responsible for giving reply to the visa applications from the consulates, fulfilling the visa proceedings at borders, introducing travel documents, carrying out the proceedings relating to the lost foreign passports and doing studies on visa regime.
