The Department of Information Technologies was established as a section under The Department of Research, Planning and Coordination in 1981.
In July 1982, it became a department and has since provided real operational benefits to the police service and, it has become a prime factor in helping to improve police efficiency and effectiveness.
Our key objectives are:
- To develop, procure and manage delivery of national information technology and communications systems in support of effective policing.
- To maintain a strategic approach to local information technology systems, by coordinating their development and delivery where common standards and systems are needed.
- To determine in partnership with the police service their corporate requirements for information and communications systems.
The Department's Vision:
Our vision is to be a world class provider of information management and communications services and systems for the police and our other organizations. Moreover, to deliver in a high quality, timely and effective manner.
Organizational Chart:
We believed that the department is increasingly becoming one server in a network of servers, providing national information to every police officer wherever it is needed. The development of interfaces to Department is becoming an increasingly vital dimension and one that has a major impact on systems architecture and design. Action is in hand to ensure that our staff keeps fully up-to-date with advances in technology in order to meet these exciting challenges
