DEPARTMENT OF IT


The Department of Information Technologies was established as a section under The Department of Research, Planning and Coordination in 1981.
In July 1982, it became a department and has since provided real operational benefits to the police service and, it has become a prime factor in helping to improve police efficiency and effectiveness.


Our key objectives are:

  1. To develop, procure and manage delivery of national information technology and communications systems in support of effective policing.
  2. To maintain a strategic approach to local information technology systems, by coordinating their development and delivery where common standards and systems are needed.
  3. To determine in partnership with the police service their corporate requirements for information and communications systems.

The Department's Vision:


Our vision is to be a world class provider of information management and communications services and systems for the police and our other organizations. Moreover, to deliver in a high quality, timely and effective manner.


Organizational Chart:

We believed that the department is increasingly becoming one server in a network of servers, providing national information to every police officer wherever it is needed. The development of interfaces to Department is becoming an increasingly vital dimension and one that has a major impact on systems architecture and design. Action is in hand to ensure that our staff keeps fully up-to-date with advances in technology in order to meet these exciting challenges
